Notes
What Kind Of Cottage Cheese To Use?
You can use regular cottage cheese…
Really, I have done it with all kinds and all brands, you really can’t go wrong with your choice. Just grab whatever you can from the grocery store or use homemade, it really doesn’t matter.
What Kind Of Berry’s To Use
You can use fresh berries but, it won’t be a frozen dessert, it will be more like a shake.
We use, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries… Whatever you have on hand to make this healthy dessert, just use it! And by mixing and matching your berries each time, you can get a variety of flavors.
Adding berries to this dessert is an easy way to get your kids to eat more fresh produce. There are a lot of great ways to sneak produce in, and anything blended, is a great opportunity for this. I have tossed a handful of fresh spinach into recipes like this, and no one is the wiser for it!

Storing
If you want to keep it as a frozen dessert, store leftovers in an airtight container. If you want to keep it as a smoothie, set it in the refrigerator.
For fun, you can also pour it into popsicle molds and drop it in the freezer. My kids LOVE this treat on a hot day as popsicles, totally takes care of snacks. On top of that, I know they are getting the delicious health benefits from it too, and NONE of the yucky ingredients in most frozen treats.
This recipe that I use was inspired by Trim Healthy Mama and this, is just our family version of it! You can find the original recipe in the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook. If you are not familiar with Trim Healthy Mama, I highly recommend checking them out. I don’t adhere to every single thing they teach about eating however, I love that they do not cut out any food groups. They basically teach you how to separate foods to fuel your body during weight loss. This was and is and will always be extremely helpful to me as I continue to eat whole foods and maintain a healthy weight.
I hope your spring and summer seasons are lovely! If you enjoyed this recipe you may also enjoy these ones too!
