Here, I would like to share a little detail into the meaning behind my blog’s name, dearmark23.com. It was named after my brother Mark, who was killed on impact in a car accident at age 23, September 26th, 2013. He was 16 months younger than me, and pretty much my best friend growing up.
Not being able to say goodbye may have been one of the hardest things I have ever faced in my life.
I never want to forget the impact he had on my life, while we shared our childhood and grew up together. He was funny, serious at times, annoying lots of times but, he was a rock for me. He pushed me since we were children to be a better version of myself in every way. He really was one of the best friends and brother a girl could ask for.
Live life as if tomorrow isn’t promised… because it isn’t.
I have always loved writing and after he passed, I knew I wanted my writing, to always be a reminder of how fast life could go, and how it could be taken in the blink of an eye. The name of my blog reminds me daily, to not only keep his memory alive, but to live as if tomorrow isn’t promised, because it isn’t.
That being said, every post I write, I write as if I am sitting across the table from you (the reader,) just sharing life with you, over a cup of coffee (or tea, if you prefer.) Because, at the end of the day, no amount of possessions can replace people we cross paths with on life’s journey.
So, there you have it, the meaning behind the name dearmark23.com, thanks for connecting with me.
Only one life to offer,
~Andrea
