Easy Healthy Instant Post Shepherd's Pie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6-8 medium potatoes or 2 1/2 lbs
  • 4 large carrots
  • 1 medium onion
  • 4-6 cloves of garlic crushed or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 teaspoons salt divided 1 teaspoon of salt for the pound of ground meat
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • For your beef mixture add 1 teaspoon of sage and 1teaspoon of the salt
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 2 Tablespoon. olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1/2 cup water beef broth, or chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce optional

Instructions

  • Chop your potatoes into bite-size pieces.
  • Slice your carrots.
  • Chop your onion finely.
  • Peel and mince garlic.
  • Make sure your ground beef is softened and in a mixing bowl add your sage and salt.
  • Place all your veggies in the instant pot and then add your meat mixture.
  • Add the black pepper and the rest of the salt.
  • Drop in your butter, add your oil and broth or water.
  • On high pressure, you will set the instant pot to stew and chili setting.
  • Let your instant pot pressure cooker auto-figure out how long your shepherd's pie needs to cook. That is the best way to get the perfect taste. If it doesn't have an auto option, then let it cook for 35-40 minutes.
